Dhoni slapped with two-ODI ban

MS Dhoni, the Indian skipper, has been banned for two ODIs for maintaining a slow over-rate during the second match against Sri Lanka in Nagpur on Friday.

The decision was taken by match referee Jeff Crowe.

The ban is a big blow to India as Dhoni will not be available for the rest of ODIs to be played in Cuttack and Kolkata. However, he will play for the final ODI in Delhi.

Due to slow over rate, the second ODI ended about 45 minutes after the scheduled finish time. The frequent discussions between the Indian players seem to be responsible for the delay.

The Lankan team won the game by three wickets and leveled the five-match series 1-1.
